1. Ticket prices for major attractions in Beijing

From the early days of liberation to the early 1990s, the ticket price policy was always low, with tickets costing 5 cents and 1 jiao. In 1990, Beijing tourist attractions jointly studied with the Municipal Price Bureau and reported to the Beijing Municipal People’s Government for approval to adjust the ticket prices of some scenic spots, but the increase was still not large, generally from 50 cents to 1 to 2 yuan.

After China’s tourist attractions implemented the unified system of tickets for Category A and B in 1996, tickets for tourist attractions in Beijing began to gradually increase. Tickets for the Forbidden City are 40 yuan in off-season and 60 yuan in peak season. In June 2002, the off-season ticket price of the Forbidden City was adjusted to 80 yuan, and the peak season ticket price was adjusted to 100 yuan. Currently, tickets to the Forbidden City are 60 yuan in peak season and 40 yuan in off-season.
